Some things are awful. Like the bitter taste of pills when you don’t swallow them fast enough. Fights. Getting yelled at. Death. The thought of death. Sweet and sour pork. But the most awful thing in life is to regret. It is a slow excavation of the soul. I regret my inability to channel Mind to voice box. It’s usually not that hard.

FREE BITCH BABY. I had all these mental pictures of how my post-exam days would be like. Painting the town red, partying till we can’t remember our names the next day, never returning home. I kid. I’ve been watching a lot of TV. If there’s one thing I love, it’s television. More than my iPhone or facebook or tumblr or starbucks or H&M. My friends don’t get why I have an iPhone. Apparently I don’t need one because I do not fully utilise its superior technology and its Godly apps. Or bother to use it to check how many more minutes till our bus arrives. I was digressing. Anyway, I’m a big reality TV junkie. My folks frown at some of these shows. They ask me all the time why I’m still watching re-runs of Jon & Kate plus 8. They’re now divorced (probably because Kate is such an overbearing wife) so what’s the point. What’s the big deal with Keeping Up With The Kardashians and why do I like all of its spin-offs. Who is this Kimora Lee Simmons she seems pretty darn obnoxious, says my Mom. My new favourite show is The Amandas. I can relate to being a Type A person that no one understands and everyone is annoyed at. I like it all. I like sitting in my recliner chair letting the media feed me with flashing images and pop music. It sounds like a mindless thing to do. Sometimes it is. Cue critics and their overused “the media is brainwashing”. Albeit the exaggerated drama and scripted scenarios, there can sometimes be an underlying life lesson to take away. But of course, I don’t just have on my cable gossipy tabloid-worthy channels. There’re great shows on the History channel that I watch or the Travel and Living channel which I looooove because it’s my gateway to Europe with Samantha Brown and savouring bizarre foods with Andrew Zimmern. Man do I love television.

Happy soba day. Easy peasy dinner last night prepared by today’s birthday girl. I found a picture of us back in primary school in my Dad’s home-office. We were standing in front of the gates at the botanical gardens with my sisters. Pocket-sized us attempting to complete our young scientist cards. Or rather, getting my Dad to do the project for us. All these stories we have of us growing up together are special and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
